Deacons of the Month

The Deacon's of the month are responsible for leading in a prayer service on a select Wednesday night. The Wednesday night service will be split in to 3 groups to go to designated areas of the church for prayer request and prayer time. The Deacon's job during the break out session is to be an encouragement to the people in his group. There are no time restraints.

The Deacons of the month are also there for the congregation if a church member needs to share a personal request. There may be times when someone approaches a deacon with a special need or visitation request.

The entire Deacon Ministry Team is willing to pray for any church member or visitor that is going through a tough time...and if the Deacon(s) feels led, they will pray with them at the altar during the time of commitment.

There will be nine (9) deacons who will be elected from the adult male membership of Oakdale Baptist church, who possess the scriptural qualifications as found in I Timothy 3:8-13 and Acts 6: 1-8. Deacons will be elected for a term of three years with one-third of the number being elected each year. . . . . Deacons will at all times consider themselves as servants of the church. With the pastor, and as the Holy Spirit may direct, they are to consider and make recommendations to the church in all matters pertaining to its work and progress: including oversight of the discipline of the church; assisting the pastor in the observance of the ordinances, having general oversight over the upkeep, repair and use of the church property, and supervising the financial program of the church.
