The music ministry is an important part of worship at Oakdale Baptist Church.  Our largest group is the Sanctuary Choir.  We use a variety of musical styles from majestic anthems to old-time gospel hymns to lead the music at the 11:00am service on Sunday mornings.  We also present special music programs during Easter and Christmas.  One of the most exciting things we do is our “Raggedy-book” concert when we celebrate old-time gospel music through singing and testimonies.  Since 2005, this choir has joined with choirs from two other churches to present special programs.  This is always a highlight of our church year.

 

We have two opportunities for our children to participate in our music ministry.  First we have a pre-school choir for ages 3 – PreK.  This choir meets on Sunday nights at 6:00pm to learn about music, instruments, singing, and of course, Jesus.  They sing for the Sunday night service occasionally.  The second opportunity is our Children’s Choir.  This group also meets Sunday nights at 6:00.  They learn praise songs, Scripture songs, and hymn arrangements.  They sing for the Sunday night service occasionally and present a special musical/drama program at Christmas.

Finally, we have many ensembles, quartets, soloists, and instrumentalists who add so much to our worship services.  Truly, the music ministry is a vital part of worship at Oakdale Baptist Church.
