The Hostess Ministry Team has met to make plans for the upcoming church year. Per our church’s By-Laws, one of the main ministry objectives for this team is to provide a meal for the family of a deceased church member and/or the family of a deceased person in the commu-nity who has no ties with another church. The first contact with the family is usually made by our pastor, who informs the chairperson to activate this ministry team. The chairperson or a member of this team visits the family members to determine their needs. A place and a number to be served are determined on that visit. As we have three teams with two team captains each, it is not necessary for each team to function each time.

 

 

These are the persons contacted by the Chairperson when it is their time to plan, prepare, and serve the family.   A normal church year requires only about two times that a sub team is called upon; however, this past church year, we served 14 families. We extend our sympathy to those families who lost loved ones, and hope that the ministry helped you through your grief in some way.

 

The sub team members are you , the church members of Oakdale.   Some of you have never been called upon to furnish food or give money for the meat because, as a new member, your name had not been added…we are trying to include every lady who is a member of Oakdale on the new list. We can always use gentlemen too!!  Some may not be new members, just new to this list.  Your name should appear on one of the three teams, and if it does not, please make one of the team captains aware of this. You will be contacted by your captain if and when it is your team’s turn to minister. This is an outreach ministry and it behooves us all to be a part, as we do not know who may have a spiritual awakening from this ministry or when it will be a need in our family. A list of these teams will be provided to anyone who would like to have one in the very near future.
